We picture it as a place
where only laughter lives
and smiles brush across our face
The absence of challenge and pain,
happiness in it’s place
We’re always going somewhere;
the next goal, the next move
Seeking happiness is misunderstood
as pursuing a final destination
But I’ve found it in glimpses
Moments so small
if I don’t stop to feel it
I’ll surely miss them all
Like a child chasing bubbles
chasing happiness is like this
The joy felt in being the one to
pop the glistening shape
before they dissipate on their own
Allowing sparks of contentment
to shower them,
even for an instant
So go ahead
Meander your way through life
popping, collecting and grabbing as
many sparks that fly in the sky
as you walk by
Because happiness is not
a place to go
Instead, I’ve learned
it’s in moments to grab hold
