We know the moon causes an energy.
It’s a force.
Even before I was versed in the language of astrology I knew and felt the energy of the moon.
It’s funny and ironic because as a society when kids are acting more energetic, emotional or chaotic than usual we turn to the question “is there a full moon or something?” but when the question about believing in the energy of the sky, we’re constantly met with disbelief.
Believing in something we cannot see (energy) is hard for the human brain. We crave proof. We seek answers for the why and how. Believing in something we cannot see is a choice and it requires faith. Which I believe requires surrender. Surrender requires letting go of control.
Energy is proven. We know and understand that energy exists. But we only believe it for the things we can see with our human eye. We know our body is and feels energy.
We can label one source of this energy: calories. We understand that calories are burned by the body like gasoline is used in a car. We require fill up through food to keep the machine (our body) functioning. When we don’t eat but keep moving we feel exhaustion.
Proof.
We have living proof from personal experience in this concept of energy.
What about when we have that “gut feeling” about someone or something. Or “mothers intuition” kicks in and we follow it. When we ignore it and experience something bad or when we witness that thing it was trying to get us to avoid, we have our proof. Intuition is simply reading energy. It’s easy to believe that intuitive gut feeling when you’re in a dangerous situation and can follow that feeling with visible proof of the danger. But that same feeling exists when you’re in a job or a relationship that’s not right for you. Why do we ignore that feeling?
My guess is it’s because we have to believe in something we don’t yet have visible proof to back it up with.
The intuitive thought or feeling is a warning of something coming. It’s not the final result. So it’s easy to ignore or place logic to make sense of it.
When we start to sense our energy depleting and noticing it by feeling tired or groggy we have the choice to eat to fuel up or ignore it and assume we can keep going. It’s a feeling we can’t see; a warning sign of a potential outcome. When we ignore this desire to eat something, even if logic convinces us we “shouldn’t need to because we just ate” then we experience complications. When we live through this outcome we collect data; proof of what happens when we don’t eat after the warning sign. When that desire to eat pops up again, we have the proof of what might likely happen if we don’t eat so we make a choice with that in mind.
The more proof we have for an outcome, the more likely we are to take action towards or away from that. Cause & effect.
What we’re doing here is creating proof after working with energy and your intuition.
We all have the ability to read and feel energy. The difference is, are you open to believing and listening to something you cannot see and don’t yet have proof for?
Anyways…
The energy of the sky…
This tangent was to prove that we do believe in energy as a collective but we’ve found ways to logic our way out of trusting it.
The energy we feel with the moon will impact us whether we recognize it or not, some of us more intensely than others. The question is are you willing to believe in something you cannot see and may or may not yet have proof for?
HOW I USE THE FULL MOON
Full Moon —> letting go
New Moon —> calling in
While I personally deepen my knowledge on the energy of the sky and apply it to my life, I don’t believe we have to know astrology to work with the energy.
I really like to keep things simple.
Before I understood ANYTHING about astrology I used this very simple practice of manifesting with the full moon and new moon. I didn’t follow the moon’s calendar. I didn’t understand when a new moon or full moon would happen.
I knew nothing.
But I felt the energy. Every new moon. Every full moon. Every new sun transit. Without having the understanding of what was happening, I felt it. Some moons (months) were more intense than others. I now understand why, but it’s not necessary to know.
WHAT I DO:
Break out the journal around the time of a full moon and prompt myself at the top with:
What do I need to let go of?
Note: sometimes it’s the day before, day after, sometimes a couple days after. While working with the energy when it’s potent might let us flow easier, it’s not WRONG or unproductive to do this practice later on. You don’t miss out on it or have to wait for the next one. Remember - whatever is meant for you is going to happen no matter what. The REASON we are journaling and working WITH this energy is to follow our intuition that’s giving us those “warning signs” of what’s coming. Your desires are on purpose. Your thoughts are intuitive and divine. They are not a mistake. They are not coincidence.
Working with the energy of the moon is simply helping your human mind and body know what’s happening energetically and spiritually.
I will always encourage writing down your answer to these prompts. It allows you to SEE what your mind or intuition is thinking, feeling or experiencing.
Do it in a journal, on a blank paper (I’ve done this so many times and I’m the journal queen) or simply pull open your phone and write it in a notes app. Anywhere really.
But IF you cannot, or are not ready to write it down physically, I encourage you to say it out loud. Say it to a friend or partner. Or do what I do and talk to yourself like it’s normal in the car while you drive. Turn the music off and have a conversation. Kids do it because they are unafraid and following their intuition, talking with the energy of their highest self. We just stop doing this because somewhere along the way we were judged and our ego didn’t want to feel the pain of the judgement.
But no one is in your car. No one will know. So get comfy and start talkin.
AT LAST resort, if you cannot or will not do any of the above options, then just think it.
While you drive or take a shower or go for a walk… think about what you need to let go of. Sink into the energy of what’s happening around you, whether you notice or not, and simply ask yourself what you need to let go of.
What is no longer serving you?
What do you need to do less of?
What do you need to stop doing?
What do you need to stop allowing?
What do you need to walk away from?
What do you need to end?
When something pops into your mind, ride it. Ride it like a wave on a surf board. You may fall off. You may fall under. You may crash with it. You may also ride it further than you thought you could.
Those thoughts that pop into your human mind when you prompt yourself with something like this is coming straight from intuition. It’s from the highest version of yourself or a power higher than you. These thoughts are subtle. They are quiet. But they are powerful.
Those subtle thoughts that are first to come in are like the moment your board catches the wave.
It’s when you notice you’re surfing that you start to think. You think about what to do, how to ride it as long as possible. It’s when you notice fear and think about whether you believe you can or cannot continue.
When working with the full moon energy, trust that what pops in when you ask yourself what you need to let go of IS what you need to let go of. It’s what’s coming. It may not be now. It may not even be within the next few days or weeks. Sometimes they are big things. Other times they are seemingly small things. Your logical brain may pipe up and start thinking it’s way through that thought and your ego might start banging on the door with fear to protect you.
All of that is okay.
It’s absolutely okay. And with time here, I’ll help you work through what to do with those thoughts that pop in, but for now we’re going to focus on the first step which is working with the full moon energy and becoming aware of what we desire and need in our life.
You have the answer to this question… now what?
WHAT TO DO NEXT:
Ask yourself the follow up questions:
How will this improve my life?
How will this get me closer to my desired goal?
How will I feel when I let this go?
Why does this need to end/go?
(*careful not to get caught up in logic or fear in this one. The FIRST thought as an answer to this question is often the intuitive answer. If your answer is fear here, then it’s important to break that fear down until you get to the intuitive (real) answer)
& now… surrender. Make the decision that whatever is ending or leaving your life is going to happen. Accept that it will take time and intentional decision making and action taking. Know that there will likely be a transition period before it’s truly over or gone.
Manifesting is all about embodying the next level to attract what you desire.
We desire something because we CAN have it but aren’t yet an energetic match for it.
The practice of manifesting, simplified, is becoming that matched frequency for the desire.
Sometimes that happens fast, other times it could take time. It really depends on YOU. How quickly are you capable of changing your energy? This becomes a skill. Those that can manifest intentionally and quickly are doing so because they either have little resistance and a lot of trust in themselves OR they’ve been working on changing their energy like working a muscle. It’s a skill and you can get better at it.
If what you’re letting go of is something you’ve had or been doing for years, it will take time and effort to make this change. But the highest version of you knows it’s necessary in order to acquire your desire. So stay at it. Don’t give up when you slip up. See it and try again.
If what you know you need to let go of is a habit or a job you don’t love or a relationship that’s not right and you choose to stay in it… just remember it’s your choice. The energy was simply encouraging you to let it go. It will likely end at some point OR it wont but at the expense of your health or happiness.
The things we are letting go of are not to cause pain, they are to bring us closer to our desire or highest potential. If the thing you know you need to let go of is going to be emotionally challenging, it’s because something better is available for you. Something better is coming to you. You can HAVE and BE and EXPERIENCE better than what you have.
You cannot have what you desire in the state of energy you are.
You desire something because you’re capable of having it but you’re not yet a match for it. So the choice is always yours. Free will is always at play.
When I use the energy of the moon it means I’m tapping into my intuition to read the energy of what’s happening around me, in me and ahead of me. Sometimes I’m not ready for what I know I need to let go of (like a divorce) and I will ignore it or take longer than I might have to. That’s okay too. We always learn something along the way. But the energy is inevitable. My divorce was inevitable. The longer I stayed in the relationship my logic convinced me was right, the more unhappy I became and further I ran from my authentic self.
Some moons will derive some fun & feisty things you learn you need to let go of.
Some moons might initiate the letting go of something emotionally painful.
That’s the human navigating a spiritual experience. Fun isn’t it? 😅
Happy full moon manifesting ✨
