You don’t have to be religious to pray.
My faith is one of my strongest relationships and highest values.
It’s something I’m unwavering about.
I’m spiritual, but not religious.
And I believe when we pray, it’s to all one in the same.
(For those that only believe in one way, one thing, this may be controversial. But that’s okay for me. Wholeheartedly, I support what you choose to believe in even if it’s different from myself.)
I will often say “pray for it” to those who are struggling with something.
Or I will reference my own practice of prayer.
And to those who know me, knowing I’m not religious, I see the look of shock and slight confusion (lol). I don’t blame them, because this idea of praying has been so connected only to religion.
This thought around prayer has been on my heart a lot recently. Maybe because I know even just one moment of prayer can really impact someone who may not do so.
I pray everyday, multiple times, in all ways.
I don’t pray to one God. I don’t have a belief system that follows one story, like that of the Bible for example.
I have faith in energy, spirit, a Divine energy and source outside of us.
I grew up learning in a Catholic school, being taught the story of the Bible and attending church.
But I’ve always had a hard time fully believing this is the only story to follow.
World Religion was one of the most enlightening and intriguing classes for me in high school. I was fascinated by learning about the different beliefs all around the world. Learning that there are many different ways to pray, entities to pray to, all with the same belief: there is a source outside of us, powerful enough to create miracles, magic and endless blessings.
When I was deep in pain in my late teens and early twenties, I found it so hard to believe there could be a God who would let such bad people exist and bad things happen. I lost any faith I did have. For many years.
In 2017, in a time I was seeing something to connect to, Gabby Bernstein was (divinely) placed into my life with her book The Universe Has Your Back. My spiritual journey and connection began right then and flourished quickly.
For years I prayed to “The Universe” as a similar greater source like the “God” I grew up hearing about. I envisioned this powerful energy that could hear me and guide me.
Always being very intuitive, I connected with this energy easily and miracles (manifestations and blessings) started to happen right away. My faith was being rebuilt in a source outside of myself. And finally, as a young adult trying to navigate healing from the childhood I had, I felt like I could surrender to something/ someone, and feel like I didn’t have to do everything on my own. I felt a lot less alone and a lot more supported.
Over time, my faith in something bigger than me developed and grew and I went on to connect with my spirit team.
The same way you believe your loved one who has passed away exists “on the other side” is how I believe we have a team of spirits and angels contracted to guide our soul in this human lifetime.
And the way you can feel your loved one around you after they’ve passed from earth, I can feel and hear my spirit team connect and speak to me in my days.
I believe prayer is speaking to the universal energy outside of us, the one we cannot see.
So I am not religious, but I pray.
Every single day.
I believe it’s all one and the same; our choice of who/ what we believe in and connect with outside ourselves. We pray to a power bigger than us in hope of blessings and help and miracles.
If you don’t believe in anything, just know you’re still protected by your own contracted spirit team, even if you don’t believe. And when you’re ready to say hello, they will be there to say it back 💜
To those who are not religious but maybe understand or believe in The Universe or SOMEthing outside ourselves… I pray you have the bravery and safety to try to connect to it.
With so much love,
